The Latest from the Lake- 8/5/09

With 800 current Camp Families, 200 current Staff and 100 current Picnic Clients (not to mention former Liberty Lakers who are still supporters) - you'd think that people wouldn't underestimate us! But they have. The DEP, the Governor's Office of Economic Growth, Mansfield Township officials, and the 8th District Assemblymen/State Senator and the Burlington County Republican Party (which is tied between the 8th district and Mansfield Township). With 600 members of our website: www.welovelibertylakedaycamp.com and 1500 supporters planning on coming out to tomorrow night's "Family Night" - The word is spreading like wildfire. Today we gave the campers a lesson in "activisim", and 600 kids wrote over 1000 letters and pictures that we plan on sending to Governor Corzine and others!

We found out today, for certain, that the DEP does not have one valid permit for a Warehouse Project on file. That's pretty upsetting and interesting, being that the multi-million dollar developer- Margolis Enterprises of Boca Raton- has been spending oodles of money on lobbyists (Hazel Gluck), high priced lawyers, engineers, architects, traffic experts, etc- and has presented "preliminary plans" to Mansfield Township for a $100 million dollar warehouse project! So when the DEP was writing permits- what were they looking at? Warehouse plans? Residential plans that nobody has seen? And how do they go granting wetlands infringement variances for such athing??? I think that Jeff Tittel and his activist crew were correct in citing that the DEP is too easily influenced by developers, lobbyists and MONEY- and they need more oversight. We know for certain, that there have been NUMEROUS meetings in Trenton with the developer, township officials, the DEP, the lobbyists, etc. Check out Nj.com for the article. and check out the Burlington County Times today for the article on Liberty Lake.

If you found this blog, that's pretty cool- let us know what you think!
